Squeaking By

Well, one more week (at least) on my feet...

My doctor's appointment today went well. The babies' heartbeats were good and my blood pressure was low, pulse ok, and urine test passed.

However, my cervix check was not quite a pass. While it is still closed and has length to it, apparently it is softening a bit.

In order to go into labor, the cervix needs to 1.) soften, 2.) efface or thin out (from about 2-4 cm to completely thinned out), and 3.) open.

So, we're still good on #2 and #3. Also, these things do not just happen overnight. They can take days, weeks, or months to progress to the stage where the baby (or babies) are ready to make an exit/entrance.

I have the go ahead to continue to work a few hours a week. (I'm only tutoring 2x each week...subbing ended last week). The doctor said we'll check again at our appointment and ultrasound next week, and if there are any further changes, it may be time for some bed rest.

For now, it's continue to take it easy and be a "couch potato." And, while there is so much I want to do in preparation for these little guys, I will gladly take it easy to try to keep them safe and snug on the inside for as long as possible!

Plus, it helps to have such a wonderful husband...Scott has been working his tail off to help get ready for these boys!

Note that I am taking the photo, and watching him work, from the rocker. :)

  1. The nursery is really coming together....Def take it easy....I know the process of labor can take weeks ect....but opening and shortening of the cervix can change in a matter of hours ex if there are issues....Thats why I am on modified bedrest at 17wks because my cervix started to shorten then funnel but was still closed...Now after bedrest the cervix is good length for me but the still funneling....Just be careful you need to cook those buns in that oven a little longer...Take care
