Can you believe it? These little dolls are four already. And, yes, I'm only two months late with this post, thank you very much. ;)
So far, we are really liking "four" around here. Budding (funny!) personalities, new independence, and, in general, much less drama about all things (insert Hallelujah chorus here).
Without further ado, and with a few pics, of course:
Jake
33 lbs
39 inches
As you can see by the collage above, Jake is rather expressive. He often says as much (or more) with his face as he does with his words. Speaking of his words, though, he is also talking up a storm and is really coming out of his shell since starting preschool and being in his own class. He is a rule follower and a great helper. (Lucky us, he is also a super helper at home and is in his element helping dad in the garage, or helping inside with the laundry, cleaning, or cooking.) He talks of a few special friends at school and is proud to show us his work which includes some of his lovely handwriting while working on numbers and letters. He's counting into the 20's and 30's and beyond and recognizing big numbers everywhere. He also recognizes most of his upper and lower-case letters and is quickly picking up on their sounds as well. It's so fun for Scott and I to read with him and see his excitement as he points out letters and sounds. He's a "big picture" thinker and likes to ask about, and often tell us, how things work. Jake's current favorites include Mickey (and friends Goofy and Pluto), "Chase" from Paw Patrol, playing outside, shoveling, tracing, swimming, the color blue, and "Leo" the blue-banded Ninja Turtle.
Charlie
31 lbs
40 inches
Charlie is our little thinker. Whether he is building Lego sets or puzzles, tickling the piano keys with a stirring rendition of "Old MacDonald Had a Farm," or donning one of his favorite costumes (usually Captain America) and letting his imagination run wild, he is always busy. He is starting to be able to read more and more words when he helps Mom and Dad through his beloved books and also loves to show us his latest work from school. Charlie's current favorites include Captain America, "Marshall" from Paw Patrol, playing inside (all the things mentioned above), the "Rescue Bots," the color red and "Raph" the red-banded Ninja Turtle. Oh, and you might ask him about a girl. This boy has a bonafied preschool crush on one of his classmates. ;)
One of the things I'm most appreciative of at this age is the amazing relationship the boys have. Sure, they have their tiffs like any siblings, but they truly are best buddies. Since they are not in the same class at school, they really love their time together at home, in Sunday School, and in their YMCA sports classes (soccer, basketball, etc.) Watching them interact on a daily basis is surely one of the many rewards for all those sleepless nights and diapers and tears in the early days. ;)
Hoping to somehow slow and savor this time with our four-year-old little boys.
