We're Two!

Charlie:

22.5 lbs
34 in

This month, Charlie made up his first song.  It goes a little something like this:

I see wad-der tower.
I see wad-der tower.

And, repeat. As many times as you feel inspired. (Every time you pass a water tower, which apparently are everywhere around here.  Never realized that before!)  He also claps with each syllable, and has even managed to get Jake to sing along with a "wa tower" and a few claps.

Charlie can also frequently be heard singing classic toddler mash-ups.  The other day, while drifting off to sleep at naptime, I heard something like this:

Ip-see fider (Itsy Bitsy Spider) up a wader spout,
Down rain,
wash...starrrr,
how I wonder yooouuu are?
Abcdefg.

Happy burdeee.

Little brother also has started giving orders to Big Brother (and the rest of us).  Over Thanksgiving, while visiting Grammie and Papaw, we heard a lot of this:

No, Jake go papa.  Jakey, go to papa. (Points emphatically at Grandpa's lap.)
Charlie with Grammie. (Smug look of satisfaction.)

My future Geometry buddy is also starting to find and point out shapes to us in the real world.  (Plates that are circles, pictures that are squares or rectangles, etc.)  He loves his shapes so much that he has started to ask me to draw specific ones for him.  "Mommy, make it. Diamond?"  He's also (sort of) drawing circles on his own.

Jake:

27 lbs
34 in

A few Jake "phrases" this month ~

See pa-pa ruk! (See Grandpa's truck!)

Ga ga cla!  (Santa Claus!)

Jakey owie, Jakey owie. (Jake's ouchie.  He had a little scratcher on his knee that he had to show us every time we changed his pants or diaper.  I think he was proud of his little badge of courage.)

More oohrn?  Pees. (More orange?  Please.  I think he could eat a case of nectarines a day if we'd let him.)

Daddy rive ca? (Daddy drive car?)

Wuv wu.  (I love you.  Complete with his own made up sign for "love you" where he puts both hands on his cheeks.  It sort of melts my heart.)

Jake continues to add a few songs to his repertoire as well.  Right now his favorite seems to be "ooo body" (Hello, Everybody) from our music class.  Even though he seems very uninterested in class lately (and more interested in playing with the classroom door handle...again, with the door obsession)  he picks up a lot and does many of the gestures and plays the piano for us at home.  He also joins in with most of the hand movements when we sing "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and others.  He particularly loves to "wash" the spider out. :)  Also on the music theme, he loves his "drummin" shirt, and tells me about it and drums on his belly when he wears it.

Best Buddies:

A few favorite playtime activities include pushing cars, trucks and tractors back and forth, playing "nap" with their pillows and blankies, exercising with "Coach Hooper" (a PBS character who has an online game), and showing off their yoga skills.

Not sure where that excellent toe point came from.  Both boys decided their version of downward dog includes one leg lifted.  Lovely.  (Especially if you are so fortunate as to have a post-bath...and pre-diaper... viewing of this serene pose.  That is only cute when you're two.)

A spontaneous game of tractors broke out after dinner the other night.

Can't wait to see what the "Terrific Twos" (we're going to be optimistic, here) will have in store for us!
