Jake
Current Favorite Things: Favorite Color - Blue (because ever time we ask him what color something is, his first guess is "baloooo," Favorite Song - Moon Song
Current Favorite Activities: Playing ball with "Gee, Gee" (Charlie), watching the football practice at our neighborhood middle school, closing doors all by himself, vacuuming the house with mom with his new vacuum toy, cooking with mom, turning the fan in his room on and off, on and off, on and off...
We learned this month that Jake has excellent marching technique (picked up from watching the marching band practice down the road) and also has very nice form when throwing a football with his LEFT hand. Looks like he might take after his Daddy!
Jake is talking a lot more these days and is starting to consistently put two words together. And, actually just this morning, I think we heard his first three word sentence..."Mo bana peez."
Also, one of Jake's 2-year molars came in this month. That means we only three more teeth and he gets a break from the joys of teething for a few years.
Charlie
Current Favorite Things: Favorite Color - Green (because every time we ask him what color something is, his first guess is green), Favorite Songs - Apples and Cherries, Twinkle "Wed-dle" Star, Choo Choo Song, Hello Everybody, Moon Song...and the list goes on.
Current Favorite Activities: Playing cars or trucks with Jake, watching the "march-in band" practice at our neighborhood middle school, jumping, "mix it up?" aka...cooking with mom.
Favorite "Charlie-isms" of the month:
"Holl-Doll..."(insert any number of requests here). Little man must have picked up my nickname from Daddy.
"Look! Charlie did it!"
"Mama! Jake no, no. Oh my! Time out, Jake!" Apparently, Charlie has become very concerned about justice in the world as he has become a bit of a tattle tale on brother. ;)
"Mama help you?" or "Mama play with you?" We're still working on our pronoun usage, as you might have guessed.
"Moon, Moon, Moon? Shining bright?" This would be a request for his favorite song.
"Read tummies?" The boys now like to read books with us while on their tummies. We think it's pretty cute.
Counting:
This month, Charlie is creatively counting to 10: "1, 2...6, 7, 8...10!" We've also heard Jake do a little "1,2,3 Go!" this month.
Alphabet:
Charlie is currently convinced every letter is known as "Letter B!" He is also starting to sing parts of the alphabet song. Jake does a good job repeating the letter names when we say them together. His favorite letter is "M" because in our letter puzzle, there is a picture of a moon behind it. (He also loves the "Moon, Moon, Moon" song.)
Shapes:
Charlie has become somewhat of a pro at his shape sorters and loves his shape puzzle. He knows a handful of basic shapes by name including circle, square, rectangle, diamond, oval and triangle. Jake also likes to play with the shape sorter and will "purposely" put a shape in the wrong hole only to look at us and say, "Noooo..." with a big grin on his face.
Singing:
The Long Brothers have added quite a few songs to their collection. Some favorites include: Itsy Bitsy Spider, Shoo Fly (complete with hand gestures), The Hello Song from music class, "He-woooah body, gwad a see youuuuu!" and the Clean Up Song, "Clean up, clean up, {every} body {do your} share!" I love listening to their versions of these songs and watching their little dances that often accompany them.
| Slow down brother, you're blowing my mind with all this information! |
