21 Months

"Gee"
(Translation - Jake speak for "Charlie")

Current Favorite Things: "Nu bla-kie" and "teb-bie-biear" as seen below.

Current Favorite Activities:  Going for a "walk daddy" and "play park?" after dinner, watching "SUPER WHY!" said with just that much enthusiasm (Super Why is a show on PBS with reading superheros - it's pretty awesome, so really, I get his excitement) and Cars, can't forget Cars.

Charlie has become very "passionate" about certain things this month.  Let's just say we are working really hard on our sharing skills.  ;)

In other news, our little guy continues to entertain us with his singing, chatting, and sense of humor.  Charlie often refers to himself in third person, now.  He is eager to tell us about "Char-ee airplane shirt" or "Charlie  coooold milk." Sometimes, he even narrates his day, "Char-ee runing, Char-ee running!"

Lovin' on Tebbie.

"Deek"
(Translation - Charlie speak for "Jake")

Current Favorite Things:  Rock-n-Roll Elmo, Broccoli

Current Favorite Activity:  Catching bubbles at the end of our library story time class, pointing out "ai-plees" in the sky, fetching "mamma goo" (shoes) so we can go outside, snuggling on the couch while snacking on crackers.

While Charlie is enrolled in "Sharing 101," Jake could actually teach him a lesson or two.  One of my favorite things Jake does right now is that he will sometimes go up to other kids at play group or on the playground and sign "share?"  This is usually accompanied by a little grunt, "eh?" as he just stands there and waits.  And, while I beam with pride...little brother is over in the corner screaming it out because he had to share.  Ah, twins. ;)

Side note:  Of course, I completely know that this is a normal phase of toddler-hood, and I beam with pride for Charlie, too.  For example, we have apparently over-praised him a bit when it comes to using his fork.  Last time we went out to dinner with friends, he happily yelled, "Yaaaaayyy!!!" every time he stabbed a piece of pizza, and then promptly looked around for his applause.  Never a dull moment.

This has also been a big month for Jake's vocabulary.  He's added many new words, and now even puts two together sometimes.  His favorite "sentences" are usually something like, "Hi Nana" or "Gee goo" (Charlie's shoe).

Finally, with our first, and much loved baby blankies now tucked away in our keepsake box, the boys are adjusting well to their new big boy blankets.  (Seen here snuggled up and watching a favorite children's video at Grammies.)

Charlie, as you can see, is contemplating - or not - sharing his toy with brother.
