20 Months

Jake:

Current Favorite Book/Toy:  Where's Spot, Little People Race Track, Powerwheels Car

Current Favorite Activities:  Rolling balls, cars, and other "stuff" down the slide to brother, playing Legos, stacking blocks.

The big news this month is that Jake lost a tooth.  Yes, you read that correctly.  His chipped tooth from this past winter (which was oked by the dentist), somehow became infected and abscessed.  After about 24 hours of misery, we took him into a pediatric dentist.  They took one look and pulled that thing faster than I realized what was happening.  He's now on antibiotics, and feeling much better.  The picture above is minus the tooth, though you cannot see it because Jake smiles with his bottom teeth most of the time.  The front-upper left tooth is the one that is no longer. ;(

Jake is adding more new words to his vocabulary.  Some notable terms include, "air-pee" (airplane), "eez" (cheese), "mone" (doggie bone), "ter-ta" (turtle), and "up...dow" (up, down).  He is also on a huge "bye-bye" kick, and says bye-bye to everyone and everything.  We actually heard his first two-word "sentences" from this, such as "bye-bye...air-pee" or "dada...bye-bye."

Charlie:

Current Favorite Book/Toy:  2011 Farmall Tractor Calendar, McQueen and Mater cars, beginner board puzzles, shape sorter.

Current Favorite Activity:  Rolling balls, cars, and other "stuff" down the slide to brother, watching Cars...again.

Charlie is head over heals for Lightning McQueen.  He has also fallen for Mater, Sally, and the rest of the crew.  He usually carries around one of his little McQueen cars and Mater truck (thanks to both Grammie and Nana). ;)  We almost lost them at the craft store the other day, but found them neatly tucked away on a shelf where we had been looking at supply.

Our little chatter box is now at the stage where he repeats pretty much anything we say.  From "Go U-Say!" during the Olympics, to "Oh my" or "Yea, yea," we have had quite a few good laughs along with him this month.  He's also getting pretty good at communicating his wants and needs.  For example, after playing at the park a few weeks ago, we told the boys it was time to go home.  Charlie grabbed my hand and said, "Bye-bye park" and a few minutes later "Home?  Oni-cheese (Macar"oni" and cheese)?  Milk?  Apple?"  Apparently, he was ready for lunch.

Finally, here are a few pictures of the boys playing from this past week.

Mater is ready for the ride of his life.

Jake ready to push Mater to Charlie.

Jake's turn to play catch.

The beloved Lightning McQueen.

Adding the finishing touch.

Lego Village with a little help from Nana.

And from our trip to the arboretum.  We had a great time at the "Tree House" exhibit.

  1. Your boys are very handsome. A blog is a great way to help keep track of their growth and adventures.
