As of 10.11.11, the boys are just two months shy of a year!!!!
Jake:
19 lbs, 8-ish oz
28"
Took a FIRST STEP a few days shy of ten months. It was only one step followed by a "plop" right on his buns, but I'll count it! He has done it a couple of times.
He stands on his own, and sometimes for about 10-20 seconds. He stands longer if he is holding a toy or something to focus on. He has also mastered the art of furniture cruising. That is, until he catches you looking, then he'll often try to turn and step towards you!
We saw a few purposeful waves this month, and I caught him trying to clap when he thought no one was looking one day. He had a look on his face like, "Hmmm...now, how does this go?"
Charlie:
16 lbs, 11 oz
27 1/2"
Has found a way to move! It is not quite a crawl or a scoot, but more of a rolling combined with using his legs to push off whatever object (wall, couch, brother) he has rolled up against. ;)
After checking into some motor skill delays again with a specialist, we are back at it with a new physical therapist and are working hard on sitting up from lying down and falling hands-first rather than head-first. Oh, and still trying new ways to play on our tummy...we'd much rather play sitting up or standing at our play-table, but we need to keep working on strengthening those arms. He seems to have made some real progress this past month.
Charlie now makes a point to wave to any new friend he meets. Just yesterday, he was waving (and grinning, of course) at a few nice ladies in the elevator on our way out of the physical therapist's office. I'm pretty sure he was sweet on the little 80-year-old lady.
Both Boys:
We started music class this month, and they are loving it! They get to watch all the moms act silly and sing the songs while the kids crawl around, shake rattles, click sticks, or bang on bongo drums. Since we've started, both boys seem to enjoy banging on the piano keys (or whatever else they decide is tune-worthy) and making their own music at home, too. Recently, Charlie has started playing the drums and clicking the sticks (rather than just chewing on them), and today Jake swayed while sitting cross-legged style to our "Good-bye" song. It's so fun to watch the new little things they do each time.

It was so time for a new post! I can't believe how much older they look since last month! The pictures, as usual, are priceless! :) Thanks!
