5 Months

Wow, I blinked and, as of 5.11.11, the boys are 5 months old!

Jake:

14 lbs, 14 oz

25 1/2 in

Learned how to stick his tongue out at us, and, we think, he does it on purpose - or in response to us sticking out our tongues - sometimes. (So cute now, maybe not so much in another year.)

Started rolling from back onto his belly at about two weeks shy of 5 months. He's great at doing it every time I look away just for a second. No more leaving him on a bed unattended!

Charlie:

12 lbs, 12 oz

25 in

Holds toys in both hands, often passing an object back and forth or turning it around.

Has started to laugh (see video) like his big brother.

Will hold up his head now, and promptly tumbles to the right and rolls to his back.

(We will be starting weekly PT sessions soon to help him get caught up with a few gross motor skills.  He seems to be right on track with fine motor skills, cognitive, and verbal abilities.  Hopefully in a few months time, we'll have him movin' and scootin' all around!)

Both:

Found their feet and toes within two days of one another.

Perhaps a little brotherly competition already?

Jake rolled over to watch Charlie grab his big toe.

Tried rice cereal for the first time about a week shy of 5 months. I think we end up with more on our face than in our belly, but it is good practice for now.

Gimmie that spoon, Ma!

They are still nursing non-stop...both boys went through a bit of a growth spurt recently leaving mom feeling very much like a dairy cow.

Getting a bit more consistent with naps. Charlie is napping in his crib about 50% of the time, but still loves that swing.

We are trying desperately to stay on somewhat of a schedule (or more like a routine, really)...and once in awhile, it all works as planned. However, between having their first colds, growth spurts, teething (?), and becoming increasingly aware of the world around them, there are lots of deviations to the schedule.

They are starting to notice and interact with one another more and more. They will often smile, coo, or even laugh (see "Jake Laughs" video) at each other, which is just the cutest thing.
