4 Months

As of 4.11.11, the boys are already 4 months old!

Jake:

14 lbs

25 in

"Scooted" across a blanket on 3.6.11. He's not so graceful yet, but he did eventually manage to move a bit without mom's help.

Almost rolling from back to belly. With one little nudge from my finger, he flops over.

Occasionally makes a new laugh sound..."Hehehehe" (This, and Charlie's happy squeal are currently my favorite sounds.)

We definitely have a thumb sucker! He does it when tired, so it gives us a good heads up for naptime.

Would be happy to stand up all day long...with a little assistance or some fingers to hold on to for balance.

Favorite toys are currently "Hippy" the hippo and the exersaucer.

Charlie:

12 lbs, 4 ounces

Rolled over once from back to belly on 3.6.11.

Still very talkative, his favorite word being "Ah-gee"

Squeals (loudly) when happy..."Ah-Ha!" or "Ah-Yayayaya"

Still likes his space, but is accepting (and sometimes even liking) being held better each week. I'm getting more cuddles in, but only when he is in the mood...and that's ok.

Tolerating tummy time a bit better. After meeting with the doctor, we are looking into some early intervention services to potentially get a little extra help in this department. After being squished for so long, he just needs a little help learning how to move his head now that he has room!

Favorite toys are "Ellie" the elephant and his petals. (See earlier video.)

Both Boys:

Hooray for good nighttime sleepers! They both sleep from 8:00 PM until 6:00 or 7:00 AM. Sometimes I have one midnight muncher or an early riser, but I could not be more thrilled with their nighttime sleeping at this point.

Naps - We are working on a daytime nap schedule. However, we are currently doing a good job of tag-team napping, which makes the days pretty busy and the laundry piles very high! Let's hope we have made some progress in this department by next month's post. :)

They are still exclusively breastfeeding and eat (on average) 6 times a day, and usually at the same time. Tandem feeding is now a lot easier for mom, which is wonderful!

They are both reaching and grabbing for all kinds of toys...rings, balls, stuffed animals, etc., most of which find their way promptly into the mouth. :)

They have both found and fallen in love with their hands. They are pretty remarkable things, after all!
