Today is 1.11.11 and the boys are 1 month old!
Here are some pictures and updates of what we've been up to lately.
Jake:
10 lbs, 8 ounces
21 1/4 inches
Can lift and support his head on his own while laying on a Boppy pillow. (See video)
Super strong grip; he is already going after mom's hair and necklace on a regular basis.
Charlie:
8 lbs, 5 ounces
20 1/2 inches
Can lift head really high, but still working on the control aspect. At times, we affectionately refer to little Charlie as "Bobble Head" (See video below)
Cuddles with his Teddy Bear pacifier and will also grab hold of fingers and hair on occasion.
Both boys:
20 1/2 inches
Can lift head really high, but still working on the control aspect. At times, we affectionately refer to little Charlie as "Bobble Head" (See video below)
Cuddles with his Teddy Bear pacifier and will also grab hold of fingers and hair on occasion.
Both boys:
Can focus on faces and objects and reach out and "get the monkey" on the play mat.
Starting to "coo," or at least, starting to make noises other than grunts, snarfles (that is a medical term, I'm sure), snorts, cries, and "poots."
Traveled to Michigan.
Attended church.
Went out to dinner with friends and family; thank goodness for sleepy babies in carseats.
Have slept up to 4 hours (or have gone 5 hours between feedings) at night, not always consistently or at the same time, but it has happened!
Love being warm and naked in the tub...and only peed on dad once during bath time. :)
Mom:
Survived one month of breastfeeding and only cried about 100 times.
(Ok, maybe not quite 100.)
Can zip winter coat, which is nice since as it is actually really cold outside without two bambinos on the inside!
Wedding ring fits on the correct finger.
Made it through my first "solo" days as a stay-at-home-mom; boy, am I learning how to multi-task (or at least trying).
Dad:
Currently holds titles of "Professional Swaddler" and "Baby Whisperer."
Back to work full-time.
Learning how to think like an engineer on minimal sleep and maximum coffee.
I figured Mom and Dad needed to celebrate some accomplishments as well...there are many moments of "blessed chaos," as our pastor put it, so we need to remind ourselves of the victories. :)

A few short videos from the month:
"Strong Man" Jake on Boppy
"Bobble Head" Charlie on Christmas Day
